The Hope Engine House on the North Side. This is the firehouse that Art Rooney’s Hope Harvey team was named after and where they dressed for their games which took place a block down the street. The Hope Fire Station was located directly across the street from what is now the D.H. Clark Building (the former Clark Candy factory). Photo courtesy of Susan Tierney Ryan whose grandfather, Mr. Hagan, was eventually the fire chief. Mr. Hagan is the 4th man from the left on the fire wagon. |
Art Rooney’s team at Duquesne Prep school. Art is 5th man from left, middle row. Not sure if that is Dan Rooney, second from left, middle row. |
Art Rooney’s own Hope Harvey Football Team, circa 1923. Art is not in the picture but his brother Dan Rooney is 5th from the left, back row and brother Vince Rooney is the young ball boy in front. |
Pop (Dan) Rooney’s Café & Bar on General Robinson St., North Side. Pop Rooney is 2nd from right with his two boys, John Rooney, 3rd from right, and Vince Rooney standing in front of Pop. The Hope Fire Station can barely be seen in the distance on the left side of the picture, at the end of Corry St. |
